Scooter and E-Bike Rental Agreement
business name rents vehicle, unit unit number, to guest name from start time on date until return time, for rental price.
- Who may ride. Only the renter and the people named here: other riders. Every rider is at least minimum age years old and has been shown how to start, brake and stop before setting off. Nobody rides after drinking alcohol or taking anything that affects their judgement, and one person rides at a time unless the vehicle is built for two.
- Helmet. Every rider wears a helmet whenever the vehicle is moving, and business name offers one with every rental.
- Where it may go. On permitted area only, following the rules of the road, signals and posted speed limits, and not beyond boundary. Not on footpaths where riding is not allowed, and not off-road unless the vehicle is built for it.
- Battery and charge. The vehicle leaves with charge level of charge. The renter plans the ride so it comes back under its own power; one that has to be collected because it ran flat is charged at collection fee.
- Condition and damage. The renter has checked the brakes, lights, tyres and bell and accepts the vehicle in the condition recorded at handover: condition notes. The renter pays for damage to, loss of or theft of the vehicle while it is in their care, up to damage limit, unless it was caused by a fault present at handover. The deposit of deposit is held against this.
- Locking it. Whenever it is left, the vehicle is locked to a fixed object with the lock provided. A vehicle stolen while it was not locked is the renter's to replace, at replacement value.
- Late return. Each hour or part of an hour past the return time is charged at late rate. A vehicle not returned within recovery hours hours of the return time is treated as taken, and business name may recover it and report it.
- Fines. Parking and traffic fines, tolls and penalties incurred during the rental are the renter's.
- The risks. Riding a scooter or an e-bike involves risks that care cannot remove, including falls, collisions with vehicles, people and objects, road surfaces, weather and mechanical failure, and injury up to and including death. I accept those risks for myself and for anyone riding under this agreement, and I release business name from claims arising from them, except where caused by its gross negligence or wilful misconduct.
