Signing a PDF you already have

Upload the PDF you already use and put the fields where they belong.

The document exists. An attorney wrote it, it has your letterhead on it, and nobody is retyping it into anything. It just needs signing.

What this document is

Your own PDF, signed where you say, returned as a sealed PDF with the evidence attached — rather than a template you have to rewrite in somebody else's editor.

Also called: upload a PDF to sign · PDF signature fields · fillable PDF · sign an existing document · stamp a PDF

Where it goes wrong

Not a feature list. These are the three moments this exists for.

The document an attorney already wrote

Retyping it into a template editor means somebody has to check, word by word, that the retyped version says what the reviewed one said. Nobody does that, which is the problem.

Printed, signed, photographed, emailed

The scan that comes back is grey, rotated, missing page three, and proves nothing about who held the pen.

Fields in the wrong place

A signature box halfway over a paragraph looks like what it is — somebody rushing — and it is the first impression a customer gets of how carefully you work.

What happens instead

1

Upload it and see the pages

The real pages, at a size you can read, with the fields you place shown where they will actually appear.

2

Place what each signer fills in

Signature, initials, date and text, assigned to a signer, marked required or not. Several signers on the same document each get their own.

3

Back as a sealed PDF

The same document with the values stamped in, sealed, with the certificate and the evidence behind it and a hash anybody can check.

The signing seal is ours, not a public certificate authority

The sealed PDF is signed with SignSealer's own key. That is a real cryptographic seal and it detects any change to the document. It is not issued by one of the certificate authorities a PDF reader trusts out of the box, so a reader may show the signature as being from an unrecognised issuer rather than with a green tick. We would rather say that plainly than let a tick imply something we have not bought. The check page confirms the document independently, which is the part that actually proves anything.

Who sends this one

The same document, sent by businesses that have nothing else in common.

Every trade we have written for

Questions

Does the PDF have to be a form already?

No. It can be a flat PDF with no fields at all — you place the fields, and the original file is never modified, only stamped on the way out.

Can several people sign the same PDF?

Yes, each with their own fields, in order or all at once, and the finished file carries all of them.

Can anybody check the finished document later?

Yes, without an account. The certificate has a code, and the check page confirms the document's hash and the signatures against it.
