Equipment Rental Agreement

The agreement that sets who may use a piece of equipment, for how long, and what happens if it is damaged, lost or late back.

Where this comes from

Not a sample we wrote for this page. This is the document the product puts in your account, as a draft, the moment you say what you do.

Name your trade during setupequipment and vehicle rentaland this is waiting for you, already written, in your words, with the blanks marked and the points a lawyer settles flagged for one. Edit it, or paste in what you already use. It is a starting point and not legal advice: the wording is yours to change and your attorney's to check.

How this works for equipment and vehicle rental

What it asks you to fill in

Read off the document itself, so this list cannot drift away from what the document actually asks for.

business name · guest name · equipment · unit number · start time · date · return time · rental price · other operators · condition notes · damage limit · deposit · late rate · recovery hours

14 blanks. They are filled once per send, from what you already know or from your own system through the API. They go into the document; they do not change its wording, and what somebody signed is the version they were shown.

What a lawyer has to settle

These are the notes already written into the document, not our opinion about the law where you operate. The product refuses to send a document with one still in it, which is the point of them.

check consumer rental law where you operate, in particular any cap on damage charges and any required disclosures.

SignSealer does not give legal advice and this document is not legal advice. What it does is put the questions in front of you before somebody signs, rather than after.

The document

The real text, with the blanks shown as blanks and the notes above lifted out so they are read rather than skimmed past.

Equipment Rental Agreement

business name rents to guest name the following: equipment, unit unit number, from start time on date until return time, for rental price.

1. Use. The renter uses the equipment for its ordinary purpose, within the area and conditions agreed, and lets nobody else operate it except the people named here: other operators. The renter is trained in its use or has taken business name's briefing.

2. Condition. The renter has inspected the equipment and accepts it in the condition recorded at handover: condition notes. The renter returns it clean, fuelled or charged as agreed, and in the same condition allowing for ordinary wear.

3. Damage, loss and theft. The renter is responsible for damage to, loss of or theft of the equipment while it is in their care, up to damage limit, unless caused by a defect present at handover. The deposit of deposit is held against this.

4. Late return. Each hour or part of an hour past the return time is charged at late rate. Equipment not returned within recovery hours hours of the return time is treated as taken, and business name may recover it and report it.

5. Risk. Using this equipment carries risks the renter accepts for themselves; a separate waiver covers those.

By signing the renter confirms that they have read this, understood it, and meant to sign it.
